Islam in British Stone promotes Britain’s most significant Muslim heritage sites and greatest Islamic influenced buildings.
We bring together history, art, design, architecture and religion - Wow, what a mix!
Historically significant buildings can provide a way for a community to connect to its past and help establish a sense of place within society.
This site is still at BETA stage and we are still testing many of the technologies that we hope will make this heritage site unique.
We are currently focusing our attentions on the Shah Jahan Mosque in Woking, the first purpose built mosque in the UK, built 1889 and a Grade II* listed building. In 2009 it will be celebrating its 120 year anniversary!
